I have always had a passion for decorating, re-purposing and shopping.
I had a home decor business many years ago with my sister and I missed the staging and buying
Inside the mobile boutique
so I decided to do vintage shows. I bought myself an enclosed trailer and turned it into a traveling boutique which I offer European inspired, Rustic and Cottage home accessories new and vintage . My thought behind the mobile boutique was to be able to have the majority of my things out of the elements, the freedom to choose my location by going to markets and events where people are already shopping, plus it gave me another thing to decorate. From the wallpapered tin look ceiling, blinged out fluorescent lights to the wood look floors, you really don’t realize it is the inside of a construction trailer. I love my little traveling boutique and love to watch people’s expressions when they come inside.
In this illustrious business of junking, you will realize that things multiply rather quickly, and you’ll soon run out of space. In order to keep my husband and I from getting kicked out of the neighborhood, I rented a warehouse so that we could actually walk through our house again. The warehouse had an office space in the front which I have turned into a retail space. Also, another place to decorate (are you noticing a theme here). I love to decorate!!! With the help of a couple of friends, we were able to transform a dingy 1980’s office into a charming little retail space. We covered up the popcorn ceiling by recycling the metal roof and also put the metal sheets on a wall. You will find a ship-lap wall that we created out of plywood strips and we covered the concrete floor with paper bags to create a custom floor. (And I’m very proud to say that I did that whole office transformation for around $500) That is where I held my once a month sale (the first Friday & Saturday). I was using that space as a holding area for my items until the next show and I thought, why not have a sale once a month? My goal was to have different things available each month. However as life happens, at this time, the monthly sales have been put on hold.
Along with decorating, I really enjoy trying to do things as inexpensive as possible. I think that is part of the adventure. So I am excited to share my projects with you!! Follow me on Facebook, Instagram and subscribe to my blog as I trek though this world creating A Room With A Vue.
